Affordable Vacations

Traveling with the whole family but on a small budget? Here are three tips for an affordable vacations with your family:

Book self-catering accommodation. By cooking at least some of your own meals you can save a lot of money. Staying in a self-catering holiday apartment or a holiday home can end up saving surprising amounts of money, even if you cook just some of your daily meals in the apartment. Try eating breakfast in the apartment, make a packed lunch for a day out, and you can still enjoy local cuisine and eat in a restaurant in the evening.

Plan ahead. Booking flights and accommodation as far in advance as possible can lead to great savings. Although there are some last minute deals, planning in advance is safer especially when traveling with small children. Many travel websites and hotels offer discounted deals for early booking so try to use these to your advantage.

Travel close to home. Instead of flying somewhere far away and expensive, why not try a camping holiday or a road trip in your home country? Most people do not realize how much there is to see close to home. Take the kids camping to a state park or explore the sights and attractions in your own state. Most children would love a camping vacation in a national park. Or pack a tent and drive around, staying at campsites in beautiful locations. Campsites usually come with cooking facilities too, meaning you can save even more money. Many top spots around the US offer great camping facilities such as Hilton Head vacations, Grand Canyon, Myrtle Beach, Daytona Beach, National Forests, National Parks and many others.
