Anyone who has ever suffered from back pain knows the pain can be all-consuming. In fact, back pain is the number one reason for missing work. As a former (I hope!) back pain patient myself, I can vouch for its all-encompassing grip on your psyche when you are suffering from it. I had fallen and landed on my tail bone, which kept me in bed for three days. Fortunately, I had only strained my back, but I had sciatica, or shooting pains down my leg, which didn’t disappear completely for years afterwards.
There is good news for most back pain sufferers. Most back pain is curable. Time is your friend on this, although it sure doesn’t feel like it at the time. Exercise can help treat sciatica and low back pain. Only 10% of back pain cases require surgery.
