Cupid Costume For Love

One of my all time favorites has to be Valentines day and the story about and around cupid and Cupid costume, it’s all about love. Every one can relate to this one way or another, we have all been in love, still in love or for some of us we are still looking for love and the thought that there just might be Cupid out there waiting to help out makes it that much more special, well we can dream can’t we?

Now in Roman mythology cupid means desire and is the God of Erotic love and also beauty, his name in Latin is Cupido. He is the son of Goddess Venus and God Mercury. In Greek mythology he is named Eros and was seen as one of the primordial gods, though there are other myths that exist as well.

Now this next story is almost the same in both Roman and Greek mythology. Cupids mother Venus became jealous of the princess Psyche because she was so loved by her subjects that they actually forgot to worship Venus. So to try and change this she ordered Cupid to make princess Psyche fall in love with the most vilest thing in the whole world, but when Cupid first saw princess Psyche he became overwhelmed by her beauty and just like every one else he fell in love with her.

Now every night as princess Psyche slept cupid would visit her and talk to her, he told her that she should never try to see him. It must be hard to tell the one that you love that you should never look at them, any way back to the story now, princess Psyche sisters had told her that Cupid was a monster, so she tried to look at him one night which angered Cupid and so he left. She looked every where for him, all over the world until at last the leader of the Gods Jupiter gave her a special gift, the gift was immortality, this meant that they could at last be together. They had a daughter and named her Voluptas or Hedone which actually meant pleasure. Princess Psyche became a Goddess herself her name meaning soul.

Now to us we see Cupid sat on clouds on the ready with his bow and his sack full of special arrows, and when he feels like two people need a little push he shoots his bow with one of his special arrows, when the arrow hits, these two people automatically fall in love and his job is done, how romantic is that? I really need to look out for cupid, I think that it is my turn for a little love. Maybe I’ll be a little more successful if I dress in a Cupid costume and shoot a few arrows myself, though if I do I’ll need a Cupid plus size costume.
