As you know gas prices are once again going through the roof. They are almost a dollar a gallon higher than they were at this time last year. So for that reason we have put together a list of ways to get better fuel economy for your car.
Proper maintenance of your vehicle is essential to getting better fuel economy. Neglecting maintenance means your car is not operating at maximum efficiency. When your car has to work harder to do its job, your fuel economy suffers. Let’s look at these various maintenance tasks.
One of the things that I do to get better fuel economy is to drive the speed limit. I know that this can be very challenging because everyone is in a hurry these days and it can be very difficult to resist from putting the peddle to the metal, but slowing down and obeying the speed limit will not only save you money as far as gasoline expense is concerned but it is also beneficial for safety considerations.
Another way to get better fuel economy is to check your tire pressure to see that it is properly inflated. I know that President Obama received a lot of flak for this during the 2008 presidential election as a way to save money on fuel cost but in principle he was correct because this can save you 2-3 miles per gallon.
And another way to get the best fuel economy is to be more efficient when running your daily errands. Make sure that when running a route or taking a trip that it is the shortest or most efficient route.
