Dune Buggy’s, also known as Beach Buggys or Sand Rails are some of the most fun to drive vehicles around. These Kit Cars are generally recreational vehicles, not intended for streets or highways – however some are street legal. Dune buggies are more often than not specialized vehicles that are designed to be used on beaches and sand dunes where average cars would experience problems.
The dune buggy makes use of an open chassis propelled by an engine designed to power through rough terrain, hills, and sand.
Thinking about getting your own dune buggy? There are several ways to go:
You can build one from scratch using parts from several cars. This is probably the most difficult way to go, especially if you are inexperienced.
You can build one from a kit, using plans and premade parts, such as a fiberglass body and suspension. This is somewhat easier, but will still take time and some skill.
You can buy a second- hand buggy. Obviously the easiest method. Plus you’ll get aquainted with what makes a dune buggy tick.
