Medieval Renaissance Costumes

Out comes the computer I need help, I had been invited to a fancy dress party and needed to find medieval renaissance costumes, thankfully the party was a few months away because what I did not realize was how many medieval costumes there were to choose from. I thought that I would go dressed as a fair maiden with a long flowing skirt, a chemise followed by a bodice. Now all I needed to do was to choose the color.

When my medieval costume arrived later that week I was in awe of it, the color, the style, it was just like the real thing. I could not wait to try it on and look in the mirror. A friend of mine came round to help me but when I put it on it was all wrong, seeing as though I am barely five feet tall it was way to long, and my shape not being that of a perfect hour glass made the dress hang funny, even pulling it in at the front did not quite have the finished look that I was hoping for, my friend however did have the hour glass figure and when she put on the dress, well it looked amazing, just as if it had been made for her, that made her mind up, she was wearing this dress and we were going as man and wife, which meant that I was going as the man. My dream of wearing the long floating dress had just floated right out of the window, great, but I could not wait to see my 2nd choice medieval costume now.

Looking at the medieval costumes for men, there were many that I liked. In the end I chose the knights costume, and thought that it would be a good idea to have one that came with all the armour and shields, because then that would give me a perfect excuse of why I could not dance. My friend got wind of this idea real fast and made me go for a knights costume without all the extras.

When my medieval knight costume arrived it was a very good replica with black satin pants and a red velveteen tunic top with the sleeves and cape attached in black. On the front was a cross which had jewels attached to it, and then to finish of my costume there was a silver fabric cowl and a fabric crown, I have to say it I looked really good on the night in my medieval renaissance costume, much better than having to wear a flowing dress, and my own personal nightmare, a corset.
