With the holidays coming up and all the feasting going on around the world, the top 10 new year resolution list will most definitely include “lose 10 pounds”, “get rid of belly fat”, or even “get a 6-pack before Easter”. The thought process behind these lists is often substantial. However, the time spent on actually making the changes necessary in your life style is often negligible.
How to get rid of body fat is the topic of whole industries, but the basics behind the process is simple. Lose body fat, lose belly fat. There are no short cuts or training methods that make you lose fat only on your stomach. So, what’s left is losing weight, and the right weight, period.
Losing the right kind of weight, or body mass, is more important than the total number of pounds you lose. Your body is comprised of 70% water, and losing water weight simply isn’t losing proper weight. Even worse, if you don’t have a high enough protein to total calorie ratio, your body will actually “eat” up your muscles to keep up with the demand for repair protein.
The long term way to get rid of belly fat is therefore to change your life style, from a calorie surplus, little training, to a moderate calorie deficit and at least moderate work out.
